iPad and the Future
iPad's, ThinkPad's, Playbooks, Slates, Tablets are everywhere!!
Last year Apple released a product that Steve Jobs says, was actually in works before the iPhone, the iPad. After months and months of rumors the iPad was finally showcased in January 2010 at an Apple conference then was released for sale in April. The initial reactions for the iPad, for the most part, weren't all that great, most people kept referring to it as other successful Apple products, "..it's just a big iPod Touch" or "a big iPhone". The main disappointment with most people, including myself, is the untrue rumor that it would run a version of the Mac Operating System and not the iPhone Operating System. Yet people were still anxious to get their hands on one, and doing just that, curved a lot of peoples opinions formed before hand. Having the iPad in your hand couldn't compare to looking at it on tv or your laptop, a seamless browsing experience from tapping and rotating around the well known iOS (iPhone Operating System) had a new and refreshing feel to it. Obviously after noticing Apple's success, there are naturally going to be competitors. Not saying the iPad is the first ever all touch tablet, most tablets weren't boasting the operating system of a mobile device, they were more Windows tablet PC's. Just like the iPhone and the iPod, it became more and more obvious as time went on that Apple had yet again restructured the market with its not-so revolutionary iPad. I say "not-so" because I own an iPad, and when you take in all it has to what it could have, it's really not that mind blowing, lacking certain key elements that would've put it over the top, mainly, for me, a front facing camera and a touch friendly version of the Mac OS.

I couldnt help but to take my iPad everywhere when it arrived on the day of release. After waiting and waiting for that famous big brown UPS truck to pull up in front of my house, I greeted the driver with a smiling face and a round of applause (seriously lol). According to Urban Dictionary, I was 100% guilty of "iPadding", the act of going to wifi hotspots just to show off your iPad. I took it to: the gym, the grocery store, to the kitchen to get a glass of water, to church just so I could use my Bible via iPad (im kidding).
Thoughts on iPad and Future Tablets
After owning an iPad for nearly a year, I still get questions about it: "is it worth it?" "how do you like it?" "how much did you pay for it?" "you could've bought a car instead" "is it true that its just a big iPhone?"
"would you recommend it?"
I still love my iPad the same as when i first opened the package and held it in my hand for the first time. I didn't bother getting a model with more than 16gb because I know there will be a new one this year. One probably with Retna Display, possible 1080p resolution, definitely a front facing camera (which is all I really want). When it came to questions about recommending it, I always told people "if you can, you should wait", because the world is about to be hit with a TON of "big phones" from 7-12inches, most will have a version of Google's Android OS, which isn't bad, but wont release there new tablet friendly operating system til about Summer 2011, but there's still a plethora of tablets hitting the market, you got the RIM (research in motion) Playbook, some with HP's newly acquired Palm OS (Web OS), some with Windows 7, some with slide out keyboards, others with 2 touchscreens put together like a touch screen netbook, the possibilities are endless this year. So if you're thinking about buying a tablet, all I ask is that you do your research, don't let anyone's biased opinion curve you into believing you made a bad choice or one tablet is far more superior than the other, etc. Read reviews, ask the reviewers questions, you can ask me questions, don't be afraid to ask, most of these tablets run from about $400 and up, there's no sense in putting out all that money for a tablet if you don't plan on keeping it for awhile or if you feel you aren't comfortable or happy with your purchase.
